For sure. :) I did indeed! Tried recording a verse each day in addition to doodles this year, the month just flew by but I think it went pretty well all in all. Kinda drained on effort and inspiration now that it's all over.

For sure. :) I did indeed! Tried recording a verse each day in addition to doodles this year, the month just flew by but I think it went pretty well all in all. Kinda drained on effort and inspiration now that it's all over.
Hey, thats neat! I'll have to check them out lol and your doodles too. I like see other's work and help support them. I'm new to NG but I hope eventually I'll get a big following. I'm heading over to check out your work now;)
Hey thanks. :) Feeling like I'd best get to some of the above soon too... was pretty sure I'd posted a welcome on your page earlier on, but I must've been seeing that avatar somewhere else. A belated welcome now, then! Hope you find a place/niche/calling with the community here too. ;)
It's cool how much this Inktober thing seems to fuel everyone too. Almost a bit like you're competing with everyone else on site; trying to keep an even stride with their artistry. So much!
Well I don't think you've been seeing someone else with this avatar because I illustrated it lol I've just been around a lot of my short time being here.
I hope to find a good community/niche here too.
At first I didn't know was Inktober was so I was confused. Caught a bit of guard when I figured out what it was, I simply had to join it and it was so much fun too. I glad that I had already been drawing some of those themes that i did at the time or I'm not sure if I wouldn't made it. It does feel a bit like your competing with everyone, that's for sure.
If I have you must be getting quite the acclaim already. ;) People using your avatars and all. But yeah, probably not!
Ah you found out about it just as it was starting? Good call joining in. I'm usually the type to want to prepare for everything as much as possible beforehand, but the accomplishment level's so much greater when you don't. When you're just forced to be consistent. If you ever feel like getting into pixel art or animation there's Octatober (maybe I'm remembering that name wrong... it is a thing though) and Animtober too. ;) Actually getting into all of these spin-off events would just be crazy though...
lol yeah I joined Newgrounds to enter a contest called Artist Army that was issued by a big youtuber artist called DrawWithJazza.
This was my entry if your curious: https://art.ngfiles.com/images/990000/990252_kaileahpnelson_invasion-of-colors.jpg?f1565725884
Then right after it ended, Inktober began so yeah I'm very new XD I have heard of pixel art and I'm going to gave it a shot since it seems to be pretty big. I was a bit surprised to realize just how much people like that. I already got a few ideas about too. I also heard of the October event for pixel art too, though I don't remember the name.
I might get into that pixel event next year. I like a challenge.
In response to the Day 7 response: Hell yeah! :D A remaster would be fun to see. Looking forward to the full color one with the dragons too!
I think the reason most people simply do black and white for Inktober is because it's simply simpler. Most artists don't take the time to really make full-fledged pieces every day, but more so doodles. But some do go all out! Sabtastic might be one of my favorites there: https://sabtastic.newgrounds.com/art
Oh wow what a massive collage. :D It's not uploaded to your page though? Or hey, yeah, it is... first piece!
Jazza's bringing in a lot of talent here. :) I don't know how many times I've read an intro post by someone brought in via one of his contests, really cool thing he's doing there.
That'd be fun to see! Pixel really seems like a different path for you. :) Could get initiated for Pixel Day if you like, that's a one day in January thing: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/cyberdevil/pixel-cake
I'll get right on that with day 7 and 5(the mech dragons)
I've seen some of Sabtastic's work and I enjoy seeing her work. Those birds are very cute. Canuck the Crow for day 20 I think is my favorite because I like ravens and crows.
Yeah Invasion of Colors was my best turn out as far as art goes. It also killed a lot of my sharpies.
Yeah Jazza is alright. I've heard a lot people after heard because of him too. I certainly saw that when I uploaded my piece.
Pixel would be different, lol but its cool to experience new things with art. So what you mean by initiated?
Awesome. :)
Ah yeah that one's masterful. It might be the most magnificent yet but as for me I must say my favorite's probably: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/sabtastic/inktober-day-9-sushi-thieves
Did you get any feedback from the one and only? As one of the true lifebringers to these land during the darkest and most dystopian times - when everyone thought NG was only about Flash and thus all hope in it was lost - he's become quite an icon.
For sure. :) Well, I mean, if you're looking to start with pixel art a few months ahead of Octobit (maybe that's what it was called...) then there's always Pixel Day! No better one-time initiation. Start. Y'know.
That sushi runaway illustration is indeed adorable. I see why its a favorite lol
Nah, that's one thing that didn't happen sadly. Not sure if Jazza even saw it because there was 1,500+ entries, though I know was one of the first people who submitted in the first week of the contest because it was a month long.
Octobit! Yes, thats it! Couldn't i do both that and Pixel Day?
:)
Oh damn, must take some time to go through all of those with each contest... maybe next time? Any plans on joining in on more of those?
Yeah for sure, it'd just be half a year ahead of the grand event with Pixel Day. Good warm-up. :)
I do plan on joining another contest. He actually has another going right now. It a post-Halloween contest (After The Horror, I think its called)where you are suppose to draw what should have happen or what could've happen at the end of a horror movie...trouble it I don't watch horror so I don't know zip about horror characters. Only ones from what people have said like It or...well I have seen Edward Scissorhands, the Tin Burton one what I simply don't think I'd get anywhere with it.....
or could I? I might have an idea now, though I'm still going to have to work on it.
Well then I'll also have to get practicing with my pixel art lol it should be fun.
Nice. :) Haha, well how about the iconic horror movie characters you might not need to have seen a horror movie to see - Jason, the black-haired girl that creeps out of a TV, any random masked perpetrator with a knife held high? Why no horror movies btw?
Good luck! I'll definitely join in too, hopefully with at least a bit bigger a cake this time...
lol yeah I suppose there are those ones too. Seen a lot of meme or references to them before in the past. As for why I haven't seen any horror movies......
Well I simply just find them interesting enough and I don't like a lot of bloody scenes, some blood is okay but no overboard....and little kids being killed/hurt in them are not okay with me. I like kids and I simply have a sense to protect them. lol
Actually now that I think about it, my father won 4 tickets one time to stay the night at a haunted house and we(my dad and siblings) did watch a few horror movies that owner gave us to watch...I don't remember the one but the other we watched we was about the chainsaw guy. I found it gross......
didn't sleep that night too............
lol thanks, I will look forward to your pixel work;) and hey that means more cake to go around too
Mmm, The Chainsaw Massacre movies I guess, sounds like a pretty traumatic early horror movie experiences! I remember feeling like the Lion King was a traumatic thing first time I watched THAT. XD Didn't get into any really violent stuff until way later... but I've probably been a bit dulled since.
I'm personally not that big a fan of the Hollywood style scary movies though. Feels like it's often too much about visual horror, not so much atmosphere, while Asian movies like Into The Mirror, that tells the story of a parallel world on the other side of a mirror (what happens when you die in one and stay alive in the other?), build things up so slowly that when something finally happens you're really scared shitless. And that thing about mirrors, that mimic your every move, that seem to be a mere reflection... until they aren't. O_o
Ironically enough my all-time favorite is an American one though. It Follows, from 2014. House on Haunted Hill (1999) was great too. There's a little gore in the latter but it's all but shock horror, like so many of the mainstream ones lately. Though I feel like we're getting intro a bit of horror renascence lately, with Blumhouse movies in particular, dealing with all types of new and relatable themes. A decade back all the big ones were based upon Asian originals, like The Ring, Mirrors, The Omen - they always went for jump scares and violence rather than that slow build that I love. Plus anything supernatural. Anything you don't fully understand that still doesn't seem unfathomable. Really scary movies are all but gross ones IMO.
Ah well didn't mean to ramble here! XD I love movies. All types. Horror's not my favorite genre but there's still something about that thrill sometimes... in the middle of night, alone, with windows that feel like entry points into your imagination...
That is true! XD Hope it'll be a real pixel party!
Yes, the The Chainsaw Massacre. That was it! lol you could say it was a be traumatic, especially I had never seen anything like that before and I think I was like 15 years old at the time.
I never thought of the Lion King being traumatic though lol I think the only reason I watched it as a kid was for one peculiar song though I don't remember it now because its been like 16 years seen I saw it last. XD
Hm, yeah the slow build up would definitely scare the daylights outta me, no doubt lol especially if it involved mirrors. I don't have a problem with mirrors but put in a horror movie and then it "Huston, we have a problem!"
Might be off-topic, was Godzilla ever a horror movie? Because that's one I do like! especially some of the newer ones they produced.
lol I don't mind the ramble, I'd go on forever myself if I get into something that I'm passionate about too;)
Pixel party! I can't wait! Yay!
Oh, by the way, You remember Donut Bait for day 3 of Inktober, I've just uploaded a colored version of it AND its also available it prints on ArtStation, which I just start on that site two days ago. This is the link if you want to check it out: https://www.artstation.com/kaileahnelson/prints
Some of those Disney movies are pretty violent! XD The circle of life hmm, or Hakuna Matata? It had a pretty special soundtrack (this is from the new one though): https://youtu.be/CF-c1K3WWg4
I'm not a huge fan of how they're remaking all the old classics, but in this particular case maybe it'd be fun to see.
Haha yeah, you look at reflections a bit differently after a movie like that. :) That's part of what makes a good horror movie IMO. Relatable scenarios. Encapsulating that scary element in something you interact with often, so that you stay reminded each time you do... speaking of these things though I wonder why I ever watch this stuff. XD
Well about Godzilla... I think the 1954 original was classed as horror, but not so sure about the newer ones. I guess they could be. Feels like the norms for horror have changed over time though, I think I'd class it as more of an action/adventure movie. Maybe sci-fi. Did you see the most recent one, King of Monsters?
Alright alright, how about a monologue switch here. :) So what ARE you passionate about? Apart from art? Or any particular art?
Woo!
Ah nice. :D The fish sure was a colorful one, and the doughnut all sparkles. I like the greens too, though the way it brightens towards the upper edge of the woods... seems a bit odd with all that surrounding darkness. Guess sunlight must be seeping through somewhere that way though. The way the water's glowing it seems almost magic too.
One thing I react to: maybe the doughnut could've had a bit brighter a glow? More so than the fish? The way it is you might mistake his line of sight as being towards the fish more than the doughnut - it really shines! ;)
Looks great though.
Yeah, recently I have been seeing some Disney movies to relive the good old times, to say to speak that is. Hakuna Matata! That was the song haha
a few months ago i saw the remake of Beauty and the Beast and I thought they did a fine job with that, so what I remember of the cartoon the stuck very close to the every action in the cartoon.
I heard Mulan thought was a bomb. That's because they didn't have the MUSIC! You simply can't have Mulan without the songs, especially "I'll Make A Man Out Of You"....I don't think that's the song name though lol
I sure you would look at mirrors in a different light after seeing that kind of thing lol but I would, after a while, I would look at mirrors normally again.
I thought Godzilla might've been a horror at one time but now in today's time, probably action adventure sci-fi mix. I did see the King Of Monsters actually. I thought it was awesome! Did you? I would say any spoilers if you haven't;)
I think I might know how to bring the attention back to the doughnut. I looked back at it and I do agree that is blends a like bit.
Thank you for the feedback;)
What I am passionate about? Weeeeell now... *rubs hands together with a grin* lol
Since the beginning of 2018, I had a suddenly insane urge to learn as many instruments as I can. I play 6 instruments now, more or less and I'm completely self taught.Tin Whistle is my best instrument, then its the Recorder, Clarinet, Bodhran (Irish drum/also my most recent instrument), Keyboard and Hammond electric organ that I got for free. All of which I play on my YouTube channel with the exception of the drum and clarinet, which it hard lol
I only recently start to learn guitar but my little E string broke so I need to replace it, and I want to learn even more instruments lol
I do a little singing and I'm composing some music, though I don't know when I'll have them posted....
I listen to a lot of music too. Celtic, rock metal, Christian rock, Dupstep, and instrumental like stuff like Audiomachine or Ivan Torrent, music artists like them....
I'm also passionate about writing. I've published 2 story stories in a book called Amalgamate by K.D. Nelson, which is a collaborated book of 4 different authors but it was publish under K.D. Nelson's name, which I find funny because our names are so similar and I'm currently writing 2 other series and a newer one which I'm working on making it into a comic book/graphic novel.
What other passions do you have?
Haha yeah, Hakuna Matata's all about those good times too. :D I haven't seen the remake of the Beauty & Beast either yet, think it's on my watchlist... the Mulan movie isn't out yet is it? Gotta catch up... actually didn't remember the song there, but yeah, it played a big part too. Did you ever see Brave? Felt a bit similar.
Yupp, same here, I'm just seeing my own reflection when I look at mirrors NOW. :) It's been a few years...
For sure. :) Yes I did, at the movies too. It was pretty cool, but at the same time I was a bit disappointed with the special effects. Every time they panned out there was suddenly a lot of atmospheric disturbance. Rain, mist... you never really got to see the monsters in full clarity, and never humans/monsters together during action sequences. Maybe they didn't have the budget for it but that bothered me a bit. I enjoyed it though. :) I didn't grow up with the giant monster movies but I'm catching up a bit now...
Anytime. :)
Haha, here goes... woah, that's not bad! So different instrument types too, keys, percussion, wind... do you play mostly covers? Original songs? How do you learn? Was just about to say it seems like a string-based instrument might be next on those steps of musical mastery! ;D I actually just got my old classical guitar stringed, I took lessons more than a decade ago now but have been slowly forgetting what I knew. Hoping to bring it back. As for missing strings: https://youtu.be/Rm8BJ2lBT1U
Oooh Celtic, maybe you'd like this: https://youtu.be/n6oSeODGmoQ
Maybe not though, maybe not what you're expecting. XD That first song though... hits hard. It seems we have somewhat different musical affinities but I do like rock in general! Christian rock: P.O.D.? I do have some of their stuff. Otherwise it's more so hiphop/punk/rock/metal. Could link to some favorites if you're interested.
Writing's a big passion of mine too. :) For music, of which you've heard a bit, but when I started it was more so poetry and short stories. I haven't really written anything major in a long time now, but I've been published in a couple local poetry collections, won first prize in a writing contest back in school, have freelanced a bit writing articles and what-not (very low income though), most recently I took some creative writing courses where the aim was to at the end of it all have started on your own book, and when it was over: keep writing until you finished it! That was a few years ago though and I haven't really finished it yet hmm. Too much time spent on other things. I have a blog. I review a lot of stuff. Not really as business-minded about my creative direction I guess, but it's a path I'd like to pursue too. :) Someday!
But as Dr. Phil says: Someday's not a day of the week.
Also big movie buff if y'didn't know. :D And nature. Walking. Hiking. Timbering. Cooking. Farming a bit every summer.
Yeah the new Beauty and the Beast came out in 2017, staring Emma Watson from Harry Potter.
And my brother saw the new Mulan and he said it just sucked and after watching the cartoon recently, I can't imagine Mulan without the music.
I did see Brave and I really like that. I can play two of the tunes for the movie actually, on my tin whistle. Touch The Sky and Noble Maiden Fair, I love those two so I had to learn them haha
At least it only your reflection now;) lol
Yeah some of the effects from King Of Monsters were a bit...well needed a like more clarity, as you say but I didn't mind it lol maybe its because I've seen a number of great indie flims, like the Mythica series, Kevin Sorbo helped make those too as well as played in them(like 5 minutes lol but still great). You should check them out, I think you'd like them. I already own all 5 of them haha
Yeah I do a lot of covers, if you got a request let me know, I might have the tune....I got about 400 tunes that I can play lol mostly I play on the tin whistle but keyboard isn't that far off as far as notes and keys go. I do have some original tunes but I haven't posted them publicly lol (perhaps its fear of what people will say haha.......maybe not, I don't really pay attention to what people say. If they like it, they like and if they don't then they don't. If I did care what people thought, then maybe that excuse would've worked............I simply just have to record them.............)
As too how I learn them, I'm simply just self taught. Youtube has a lot of helpful people that do tutorials but other then that, I look for tabs or abc notion notes. I'm still learning how to read music.
Gaelynn Lea is amazing! I'm so glad she chasing her dream of playing music! I'm actually listening to that video you linked me while I'm writing this and....ACK! The music's got me! lol its so powerful and joyful.
Also that guy playing on 1 string was AWESOME! Thanks for those links. Those really cool!
I own one of P.O.D's cds. Yeah sure I don't mind if you share your favorites lol I think my favorite rock band (though they can also be classified as a christian rock) is Thousand Foot Krutch...or Skillet
......or Red? No no no its TFK.......Ok those 3 share my top favorite number 1 spot lol
I like poetry! I do some of that too, none I have published and thats so cool that you got yours pubishedand you won that contest! That's soo cool! I like short stories too...but I think I said that. lol You have any of your work posted any where? I won't mind reading them, if possible;)
I never took a creative writing contest....I kind of just let my fingers go and the story comes to life with my imagination XD
I tried to start a blog.....twice....but I have got anywhere with it. lol
Business minded huh? If it helps any, you got a nice crowd on your NG page. I've been published since I was 16.....and I'm not very big ANYWHERE lol But I shall not fail!
I'll have an esty store up soon too. I figured with esty and artstation I might have a chance to get some kind of income....I'm broke *cries* That and if I can finished the deal with the VA hospital Canteen gift shop, I'll be nation wide in 157 locations.....Barnes and noble online store and amazon don't help me very much. This is a long road though....lots of hard work
BUT
Seeing your page, I think you might have a great ahead in getting into that kind of business. If you want too that it. Looks like you have great potential! You have something I don't and that a good following:)
lol movie buff i can definitely tell lol. Hiking and nature are cool and walking. I like that too. Cooking... hmm I like it but I don't do it that much but I can make so mean stuff when I do...I've tried growing my own garden before but where I live the weeds (Creeping Charlie) is literally indestructible. 8 years I've trying to kill it....but its not possible and now has over taken the entire yard...... gardens are nearly impossible to grow unless you grow your plants in a pot, which even then it a challenge because the creeping charlie tries to climb up into it.
Timbering, is that like getting firewood or something like that or is it like working for a timber mill?
Cyberdevil
October definitely feels like the busiest month of the year with all this stuff going on! Congrats on accomplishing the full feat. Might bookmark this and go through a few later on...
KaileahPNelson
That it does seems lol and thank you.
Well each day is a different art style so none are the same, hope you enjoy viewing them:)
Did you partake in the Inktober?
